When talking about his business, Mr. Johnny Chang, chairman of the GEM, expressed that he was originally engaged in the family enterprise which specialized in producing sewing machine. Under an accidental opportunity, a German friend introduced him to produce the electromagnetic locking device, a completely strange industry for him. However, he overcame all the difficulties because of strong perseverance. Nowadays, GEM becomes one of the International leading manufacturers in producing high safety and quality access control hardware products. Accreditation of "International Organization for Standardization- ISO" underlies our perseverance to effectively improve the quality of production process or handling procedure in either production or commercial aspects. A high-quality management system can not be implemented through simple rules or independent procedural steps. In addition, the exercise of such a system has to be implemented with certain degree of flexibility and it should be reflected effectively through the company's corporate culture, market segments and the required control processes.

Accreditation of IEC Quality Assessment System for Electronic Components- Certification for Green Products- (IECQ QC 080000) under International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
Recently, "Environmental Issues" have posed various challenges to manufacturing management. This is especially so since the implementation of RoHS Enforcement Act (EU 2002/95/EC) by the European Union starting from 1st of July in 2006, creating inevitable pressure to all parties in the entire supply chain due to increasingly harsh business environment! Being a member in the league of manufacturing access control products for the market of European Union, we will certainly fulfill our management duties so as to ensure that our products will not only meet the "non-hazardous substances" standards but also satisfy all stipulated standards of other related environmental protection laws, such as WEEE, EuP and REACH. This will ultimately minimize the risks in the supply chain!
As for the control of hazardous substances (Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated Biphenyls, Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers) and their pollution possibilities that may be incurred during the production processes, an effective standard procedure has been established. We have also equipped ourselves with the related testing equipment to simultaneously verify the effectiveness and accuracy of raw materials’ examination document provided by suppliers and reinforce the detection of harmful substances during incoming quality control (IQC). |

To protect employees, to control and reduce the possibility of accidents and enhance the occupational health in the working environment, we have, under the guidance by the government labor agency, obtained both the accreditations of Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSAS 18001) and Taiwan Occupational Safety and Health Management System (TOSHMS) at the end of 2009. This is because in the highly competitive market, customer requirements are no longer determined by the low prices offered by suppliers; suppliers must also exhibit their corporate management morals and their overall safety considerations so as to ensure that their service is reliable and will not be affected by work-related accidents or incidents which lead to delivery delays. |

環球 “綠色產品”
Our “management systems” have received certificates granted by international certifying bodies in accordance with the growing world trend of CSR “corporate social responsibility” and the environmental regulations issued by RoHS, WEEE, REACH, etc. In addition, we carry out inspections and checks with instruments in our operation procedure. ERP (enterprise resource planning) system is applied to retrieve and analyze data and produce figures and documents to facilitate our clients’ validation process. Both economic profits and the benefits of our clients and international society are taken into account.

歐盟電子電機設備中危害物質禁用指令(Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substance in EEE，RoHS)。RoHS指令的主要目標在於對電機與電子設備中有害物質的限制，從而保護人類健康，並保證對廢棄物進行合理的回收與處理，以保護環境。根據指令規定， 2006年7月1日起，投入歐洲市場的新電機電子設備中將不得含鉛、汞、鎘、六價鉻、聚溴二苯醚(PBDE)或聚溴聯苯(PBB)等材料。

什麼是REACH？
歐洲議會提出之 REACH 法案，旨在使企業為其所產製或交易之化學物質可能對消費者和環境的危害負起測試責任。業者有義務提供文件證明物質不會造成危害。根據「無資料，不准上市」 (“no data, no market”) 原則，未來所有物質都必須事先具備足夠資料，方能獲准於市場流通。資料充份與否的標準主要視生產量而定。生產量越高，需要提供的資料就越多。 這項原則同樣適用於成品 ( 商品 ) 。成品不得釋出任何高度危害物質達嚴重警告程度。交易和進口歐盟以外產製成品的業者，必須負責保證符合這項規範 ‧ |
